Ever wondered how to view the Gov SL Gazette ? Well this is the official way...

How to get connected to the
Government Press Information Server
(1) Hardware Requirements:
(a) 486 or Higher PC
(b) Internal or External Modem
(c) Telephone Facility
(2) Software Requirements:
(a) Windows 95 or higher
(b) Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 3 or later, or any other478/*9
web browser which is compatible with Acrobat Reader
(c) Acrobat Reader 4.0.

Instructions for the First time user:
1.a To make a Dial Up connection icon to the Government Press Server, 
please, proceed through the following steps.

Step 1: Double click the 'My Computer' icon



Step 2: Double click the 'Dial Up Networking' 
icon
Step 3: Double click the 'Make a New connection' icon
Step 4: 'Make a new Connection' Dialog Box appears.
Replace the first field with 'GP' and leave the other fields as they are.
Press 'Next' button.  

Do not press the 'Configure' button unless you are an experienced user.
Step 5: Enter the Telephone number. **If you are dialing from outside Colombo,
the area code has to be entered.
**The country code is required, only if dialing from other countries.
The valid telephone numbers are 673302 through 673315.
Press the 'Finish' button. Your new dial up connection to the Government Press
Server is saved so that you can use it later to get connected to the server.


Instructions for subsequent use:
1. Double click on the “GP Dial Up” connection icon

2. You are prompted to enter User name and password”.
Please enter User name: test and Password: test
Press Enter

3. If you are successful in getting connected, the Dial-up network connection
icon is displayed on the task bar.
4. Open your favourite web browser and type the following URL:
http://192.168.200.100/pubs
Press “Enter”
Enter your user name and password, if prompted, and press Enter.
If domain name is required, enter the user name as the domain name.
5. To disconnect the line:
Double click on the dial-up network connection icon and
click the Disconnect button.
